Implants over dentures are dentures that are made over implants. It is a normal denture that rests on the gums and tends to fit less firmly. It has special attachments that snap onto attachments on the implants holding the dentures firmly, and feels more natural and better when chewing than a regular denture. Implants greatly improve the firmness of the dentures, and prevent shrinkage of the ridges ( gum and bone). An implant-supported denture may be made for both the upper and the lower jaw.
Advantages of Implant Supported Dentures:
- More stable than a normal denture, less worry that the denture may become loose or fall out of the mouth.
- Feel more natural when eating and speaking and looks more natural.

- Enable individuals to speak more easily.
Disadvantages of Implant Supported Dentures:
• Scrupulous oral hygiene is essential in order prevent decay and gum disease.
• The over-denture may feel bulkier than a conventional denture.
• Frequent maintenance examinations are necessary.
• Generally this is a more expensive approach than a conventional denture.
